Wow!!! What an afternoon/evening it was for our first ever Glow In The Park Lantern Walk. The weather was great and the crowd was even better, an estimated 2,000 people came out and over 800 lanterns were sold, Lake Ellyn was magically lit by a fun and festive group!
Thank you to The Bella Artes kids for getting the night off to a great start with some perfect music followed up by Dave Rudolf entertaining the kids. And then if you did not see them the Glenbard South Marching Band came stomping in in grand fashion just as the walk began truly adding a great feeling to the event.
Thanks to our sponsors including The Stand, Dairy Queen Lombard, College of Dupage Preschool Program, Aqua-Tots Swim School, Bottle and Bottega Glen Ellyn, The Law Offices of Robert F. Kramer, and Catalano, Caboor & CO. With your help and the support of the community purchasing all the lanterns we were able to raise over $8,000 for the NICU at Lurie Childrens Hospital.
It truly was an amazing Inaugural Glow In The Park Lantern Walk done in conjunction with the Glen Ellyn Park District. There were climbing walls, bounce-houses, and face painting that had every kid smiling. The Stand also had a great set up with hot dog’s, brats and more providing a perfect setting for a family picnic.
It was an event that hit our goal of providing a fun family event for the community while supporting a great cause. We can’t say enough thanks to all that attended and made this such event such a great success. So thanks a million to all our friends, family, sponsors, Glen Ellyn Park District, and all the great people from our community.
We wish everyone a great holiday season and a happy new year!
